My intention was to make a one-minute movie, but I went over by 15 seconds. This little film consists of selected photos from my iPhone library of 25,000 plus images, random sounds, and a voice-over in which I talk about why I take pictures.
I was going to voice-over the voice-over because I have trouble pronouncing the th in aesthetic, and my unconscious Brooklyn “Da” (instead of the) makes an appearance, as does the dreaded dramatic “poetry voice,” but I decided to keep it real. The last image is a video of a light image by James Turrell in the C.A.V.U. at MASS MoCA.
My little compositions on this blog are attempts to create and construct moments of meaning and connection that speak back to the meaningless destruction taking place all around us.
