Lost Poem

Occasionally, I’ll find myself searching in Dropbox for a reading or an assignment, and I’ll come across a poem I wrote, worked on for a bit and then saved thinking I would come back to it later. Yesterday I found this one:

Wondrous Work

For Gwendolyn, Nikki, Audre, Sonia and Lucille

Black Whoa man

Your work is wondrous on and off the page

Breaking the silence of the slow drag

Magnetizing the magic

My dynamic mama kin

Creating new, the world

Mining the word/mind/silo

Rising, shimmering, shimmying

to the golden crash of symbols

Let’s make some noise!

Sibilant sounds simmering

Cooking up truth

Flipping the modes

Filling the pores

Surgeons of the heart

Vintners of the spirit

Espresso expression

Pressing on!
